Ostomy Barrier Paste

Barrier paste is particularly effective when the peristomal skin presents the following conditions:

1.Skin Depressions or Folds: Such as uneven skin caused by weight changes, surgical scars, or skin aging.

2.Irregular Stoma Shape: For instance, if the stoma root has dips or is uneven.

3.Gaps between Wafer and Skin: Used to fill gaps to ensure a seal.

2.Apply the ointment: Squeeze out an appropriate amount of the anti-leakage ointment and shape it using a moistened cotton swab or your finger (your finger should be moistened first).

Tip: Apply the ointment evenly, filling in the depression and ensuring its surface is level with the surrounding skin to avoid unevenness.

Layered application: If the depression is deep, apply the ointment in layers, waiting approximately 30 seconds between each layer to ensure proper shaping.

3.Attach the baseplate: After the anti-leakage ointment has shaped, attach the stoma baseplate.

4.Thorough cleaning: When changing the ostomy bag, be sure to thoroughly rinse away any remaining anti-leakage ointment with warm water to avoid affecting the adhesion of the new baseplate.

* Leak-proof paste (paste): Suitable for cases where the skin is sunken or wrinkled. It can be filled until it is flush with the skin before applying the baseplate.

* Leak-proof ring (ring): Suitable for cases where the skin around the stoma is smooth. It is mainly used to wrap around the stoma root to prevent leakage at the edges.
